RNOH Junior Clinical Fellowship+ posts are designed to provide a rounded experience for successful applicants; each with a strong clinical focus in addition to specialist non-clinical attachments that will be the envy of any portfolio.
Main duties of the job
JCF+ posts include but are not limited to:
JCF+ Medical Management & Leadership:
Supervised by the RNOH Medical Directorate and will include special project, attendance at relevant management committee meetings, Faculty of Medical Leadership Management.
JCF+ Quality Improvement:
Supervised by Director of Improvement and will include an intro to QI, special project with Improvement Team, human Factors training.
JCF+ Research and Innovation:
Supervised by the Head of the RNOH Research & Innovation Centre and will include special project, attendance at Research & Innovation Committee meetings, Critical Appraisal skills training, learn to write grant proposals.
JCF+ Medical Education:
Supervised by the RNOH Medical Directorate and Director of Medical Education and will include attendance at the Medical Education Committee Meetings, supervision of journal club and teaching programmes + special project/course design/simulation training programme.
JCF+ Medical Information:
Supervised by RNOH Chief Medical Information Officer and will include experience of the various Digital Committees, MedTech project and Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration advisory/link role.

Job Description
Job responsibilities
The JCF+ Doctors will be involved in the day to day care of the patients on the wards under the supervision of the Specialist Registrars and Consultants. Key responsibilities will include the perioperative management of orthopaedic surgical patients. Successful applicants will work in one of four teams alongside Core Surgical Trainees and RNOH Foundation Equivalent Programme doctors.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* 2 years post Medical School experience i.e. Foundation Year 1 and 2 (or equivalent) completed
* Full GMC Registration and licence to practice
* Candidates should demonstrate experience and understanding of peri-operative assessment, common post-operative conditions and multi-disciplinary discharge to a community setting.
Desirable
* Advanced Life Support (ALS) or equivalent.
* MRCS or equivalent
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
* Competent in basic procedures, physical examination, history taking, infection control.
* Understands current clinical issues in orthopaedics.
* Aware of own limitations, consults senior colleagues appropriately and knows when to ask for help.
* Understands the principles of patient confidentiality and data protection.
Desirable
* Knowledge of UK health systems and practices including the relationship between primary and secondary care and inter professional relationships.
* Knowledge of current issues in the NHS.
* Understands the importance and impact of information systems in health care.
