Job summary
Caradoc Surgery, part of Ranworth PCN, is looking to welcome an experienced and qualified phlebotomist into their busy practice based in Clacton. Supporting our nursing team, the phlebotomist will be working under the direction of the lead nurse and as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
1. Performing venepuncture as requested by the clinical team to the entitled patient population.
2. Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample.
3. Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols.
4. Maintaining accurate patient records on internal systems.
5. Correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples.
6. Effectively using the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies.
7. Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner.
8. Maintaining an effective liaison with the laboratory staff.
9. Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters.
