One of the UK’s most inspiring and best known faith-based organisations, is looking for an experienced and adaptable individual to join our Support team, as part of Booth House Lifehouse Service in Swindon
This is a housing support position and does not involve any personal care services.
The aim of Booth House is to provide a better overall experience of living in temporary accommodation for homeless people in the Swindon area, supporting our service users to improve their wellbeing and build on their future move-on opportunities.
Booth House supports up to 50 people who require temporary accommodation for many different reasons. Support will initially begin at the point of referral from the council's homelessness services and then work with our residents to develop an appropriate housing pathway for the future.
Booth House is a busy service and we are looking for a unique and talented person who is keen to help us improve people's lives. This post is fixed term until 31st March
Key Responsibilities:
To work as part of a team taking shared responsibility for delivering our programme of holistic and tenancy focused support to single people living in temporary accommodation in our Lifehouse in Swindon.
As a motivated and dynamic Support Worker you will be responsible for assisting with delivering a high-quality programme of support which promotes client choice and control.
You will address clients support needs, enable them to make positive life choices and ultimately empower them to lead more sustainable lifestyles.
You will also complete day to day activities including administration tasks and file entries.
The successful candidate(s) will be able to:
1. Demonstrate knowledge around homelessness and the key needs experienced by vulnerable homeless people.
2. Demonstrate sound knowledge of the benefits systems.
3. Demonstrate great communication and IT skills.
4. Enjoy working as part of a team and also have the confidence to be self-directed and work alone when needed.
5. Be sympathetic to the Christian values of The Salvation Army
