Graduate Learning Support Assistant
Cardiff
Have you recently graduated from College or University? Do you have a passion for helping and supporting young people navigate the tricky journey through education? Teaching Personnel are seeking conscientious and organised individuals for the many Learning Support Assistant (LSA) roles we have available for September in the Cardiff area.
Successful applicants will be working with pupils within KS3 & 4, where their interests and personality will be matched with pupils who they can best support whilst building a strong working relationship to motivate the pupil to achieve their potential. LSA roles to pupils in secondary schools would see the candidate providing 1 to 1 in-class support as well as social and emotional support outside of the classroom where necessary; most often to pupils with additional learning needs (ALN) including Autism, ADHD & Dyslexia.
No experience working with ALN? Not a problem, Teaching Personnel can support you with professional development courses to ensure you are fully equipped for the role.
These positions are on a full-time basis from September for the entire 1st term in the first instance, with view to extend further for the full academic year. For exceptional candidates, there is the possibility of being taken onto a permanent contract with the school itself.
Responsibilities:
* Assist assigned pupils(s) with their daily needs, including academic support, behaviour management, and organisation.
* Provide 1:1 support to pupil(s) who may require additional support with their academic and/or social development.
* Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where your pupil(s) feels valued, supported and listened to.
* Contribute to whole-school ethos and participate in team meetings and trainings.
Requirements:
* Previous LSA experience is desirable but not essential; other forms of childcare are also desirable including Sports Coaching.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively as a team alongside the ALNCo and other LSA’s.
* Patience, empathy and a desire to enhance the educational experience of every child you encounter.
* A current Enhanced DBS certificate which is registered on the DBS Update Service.
* Annual registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
**Teaching Personnel can assist you with your DBS & EWC applications**
