We are looking for a Salaried GP for 4-8 sessions, to join our vibrant, forward-thinking team at Bloomfield Medical Centre.
The post-holder will participate with colleagues to maintain a rota of cover during practice opening hours (5-day period) to deal with a wide range of health needs in primary care settings across a portfolio of services that Bloomfield currently runs, including:
Bloomfield Medical Centre, Grange Park Surgery, Blackpool Urgent Treatment Centre and Blackpool Victoria Urgent Treatment Centre co-located with Blackpool Teaching Hospitals Emergency Department (based on the Acute Hospital site), ensuring the highest standards of care for all patients.
We also have a close working relationship with Lockwood GP Surgery in Poulton-le-Fylde. As this working relationship develops, there will be an increased opportunity for the postholder to deliver primary care services from the Lockwood GP site.
Main duties of the job
* Provide high-quality care in a primary care setting, assessing, diagnosing and treating patients.
* Management of screening, prevention and chronic care issues.
* Admin duties: Managing necessary paperwork through EMIS clinical system and ensuring timely communication with other health providers.

We provide high quality general medical care to a registered list of over 17,000 patients over the two sites, through our dedicated team of clinical, administrative and management professionals including 8 GP Partners, Salaried doctors, Clinical Pharmacists, Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses and Healthcare Assistants.
Job responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities:
* Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
* Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
* Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
* In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.
* Providing counselling and health education.
* In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home/community settings, checking, and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion.
* Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
* Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
* Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
* Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
* In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care, including participation in the Duty Team on call arrangements.

* Previous use of EMIS Web and Adastra IT systems.
Qualifications
* Full registration with the General Medical Council.
* Vocationally trained GP.
* Evidence of continual professional development.
* Membership of or working towards MRCGP.
Teaching
* Experience and willingness to teach juniors, support services professionals.
* Willing / able to attend appropriate training.
