Department – Product and Buying

The Junior Buyer role is an exciting opportunity to be part of this journey with the Product and Buying team at our Milton Park offices. Reporting to the Senior Buyer you will assist them in all aspects of the buying cycle, taking responsibility for product categories and support driving product category growth. Responsibilities
1. To maintain and manage category range plans, ensuring accuracy and effective deployment across Retail, Online, Wholesale and Franchise Stores
2. To seek feedback on product performance from all selling channels (Web & Retail), playing an active role in post campaign range reviews for relevant categories
3. To handle queries from Suppliers, Retail teams, Customer Service and escalate if appropriate
4. Create e-mail briefs for relevant categories, on demand but also feeding into marketing with suggestions for future briefs
5. To create Product Briefs, detailing all aspects of a new product (barcode, cost, unique features etc.) to enable copy and design to take forward
6. Various reporting and analysis including pre-buy analysis, market trade reports, product performance reporting
7. Collaborate with suppliers
8. Manage seasonal product calendars
9. Develops and implements the range extensions for a global business.
10. Develop new product ranges with effective sourcing, ensuring the best product for the best price
About You
1. Proven experience as a Junior buyer within the retail industry, preferably within the food and beverage sector
2. The preferred candidate will have experience in Tea, Coffee or ambient product buying
3. Strong analytical skills with advanced excel skills
4. Good at time management with the ability to manage own workload
5. You have strong project management and organisational skills with the ability to analyse commercial and customer information
6. Good communication skills, both verbal and written as you will be working with a range of colleagues and prospective employees at all levels
7. Team player, with the desire to support across all levels.
