Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will play a significant part in the day to day running of the Financial Management Department. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to assist the Divisional Finance Manager in providing a high-quality financial advice and business support service to the Division.

1. Assists the Divisional Finance Manager to ensure the provision of a high-quality financial advice and business support service to the Division.
2. To support financial management reporting and budgetary control across the Division.
3. Overall responsibility for monthly closedown of the general ledger system in line with deadlines. This includes co-ordinating the input of feeder files into the general ledger and all associated tasks.
4. Deputise for Divisional Finance Manager in absence or for identified areas.

Person Specification
Other skills
* Able to plan own work to ensure monthly, quarterly and annual deadlines are met.
* Ability to work accurately to tight deadlines.
* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with finance and non-finance staff.
Skills and knowledge
* Knowledge of the NHS financial regime and relevant legislation and guidance, including Payment by Results and the Single Oversight Framework.
* Able to investigate and resolve expenditure variances, pursuing, if necessary, with other members of the finance team or budget-holders.
* Able to analyse and manipulate large volumes of complex data into meaningful information and produce summaries for review by members of the senior finance team and budget-holders.
* Able to produce monthly exception reporting for Board reports.
* Able to produce detailed and summary narrative reports to explain financial information to budget-holders.
Qualifications
* AAT qualified or equivalent, and actively studying towards CCAB qualification, or with significant role experience.
Experience
* Experience of working in a finance department.
* Experience of production of income and/or expenditure annual budgets and monthly management reports.
* Experience of spreadsheet, database and computerised ledger applications.
* NHS finance experience.
