Principal Structural Engineer - Building Structures

Crouch Waterfall is currently experiencing rapid growth with exciting opportunities and are looking for a flexible, practical engineer who can grow with the company to achieve the goals of the business in parallel with their personal ambitions.
The position requires a Graduate BEng or MEng Engineer ideally with a minimum of five years’ experience in Structural Engineering. Ideally, the candidate should be Chartered or near Chartered. We would also like a candidate who is keen to diversify and encompass the scope of our project remits which cover domestic and commercial structures as well as temporary works in both the public and private sectors.
The candidate should be conversant with engineering software and have some knowledge of AutoCAD. As an Engineer, you will be expected to take ownership of some projects within your remit, interacting with the other Engineers and Technicians within your team.
The Engineer will be supported and supervised by the Associates and Directors within the office and work in close conjunction with the other offices. The ideal candidate should be proactive, dynamic, and intuitive, happy to work on their own initiative as well as being a team player and interacting comfortably with the other staff members and the wider design teams.
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual who can manage a project, with oversight, from proposal phase to construction administration. You will be mentored and supported through close links with senior professionals and directors of the business to ensure you reach your potential.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Design of civil and structural schemes
2. Review and checks of other schemes prepared by others
3. Carrying out inspections and surveys of structures and preparing reports
4. Undertaking feasibility / option studies
5. Preparation of project programmes
6. Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, design analysis and construction cost estimates
7. Perform construction-related services including shop drawing reviews, response to requests for information, periodic construction site observation, and occasional specialised structural inspections
8. Collaborate with architects, designers, and building contractors on design and construction of projects
We value practical skills that enhance the designs with buildable detailing. To be considered for this structural design role, we require the following experience, qualifications, skills, knowledge, and attributes:
* Relevant Civil/Structural Engineering degree
* 5+ years’ experience (ideally)
* Full UK driving licence and own transport would be useful but not imperative
* Eligible to live and work in the UK and high standard of written English
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Salary and Benefits:
Salary: Negotiable dependent on current experience.
Holidays: 25 days annual leave plus statutory holidays. Option to purchase up to 5 additional days’ holiday per year + your Birthday.

Contracted Hours: 40 hours per week (part-time workers please apply).
Hours of Work: Flexible working hours. Core business hours are Monday to Friday, 9.30am – 4.30pm.
