We are looking to recruit a suitably qualified Respiratory Physiologist on a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave (10 months). They will join our friendly team at the Lung Function Unit, Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley.
It would be an ideal opportunity for someone who has recently qualified or is just completing BSc Clinical Physiology (respiratory).
The department offers a wide range of both routine and specialist respiratory investigations.
You should ideally be ARTP registered or applying for it, and have experience working in respiratory physiology, particularly in specialist areas.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be required to perform a range of diagnostic procedures on patients within a specialised physiology setting such as full lung function tests, challenge testing, sleep studies, muscle pressures, and field exercise tests to greatly assist with the day-to-day running of the service.
These tests will primarily be performed on an outpatient basis for the adult population.

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
* BSc in Clinical Science/Physiology or relevant scientific degree
* Level 4 Healthcare science associate Apprenticeship and Practitioner Training Programme Equivalence
* ARTP Part 1 and Part 2 Assessment or ARTP Practitioner examination or equivalent experience
* Registered or be eligible for the AHCS registration.
Experience & Knowledge
* Experience working within respiratory physiology & healthcare environment.
* Knowledge of specialised respiratory investigations.
* Knowledge of respiratory diseases and their effects on respiratory function.
* Ability to work unsupervised & demonstrate ability to work as an independent practitioner.
* Experience in performing full lung function & basic sleep investigations.
* Teaching/supervising others.
Skills & Abilities
* Can perform a range of basic and specialised lung function tests without supervision.
* Demonstrate laboratory maintenance, calibration, and quality control procedures.
* Demonstrate highly developed skills for use of equipment.
* Ability to interpret basic lung function tests.

* Basic computer / keyboard skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
