Role: Comms Strategist
Location: Bracknell, England, United Kingdom (Working from our Bracknell offices, 1 day a week)
About the role:
This role is part of a multi-disciplined OLIVER team working in partnership with our client, a global technology company, to deliver impactful and effective marketing content and communications across their wide range of products and brands. The Comms Strategist is a client-facing role, serving as a strategic partner to client stakeholders, understanding and clarifying their needs and challenges, as well as collaborating with our creative team to develop effective marketing strategies and content that address these demands.
What you will be doing:
1. Liaising with client stakeholders across different business units and markets, to understand their needs and challenges, and helping to shape briefs for a range of B2B marketing outputs (including eCommerce, sales collateral, brochures, event activations, and video content)
2. Conducting desk research, competitor analysis, and comms/content audits to gain a deeper understanding of different products, markets, and audiences
3. Advising clients and internal teams on effective communication approaches, providing an informed point of view on appropriate channels, targeting and messaging to meet the client’s objectives
4. Translating client needs and requirements into clear, succinct briefs for the creative team, providing them with the relevant information and inspiration they need
5. Working closely with the creative team to develop creative ideas and executions that deliver on the strategy and creative brief
6. Supporting the annual planning process by bringing strategic rigour, best practice and external inspiration
7. Collaborating with counterparts in other regions to develop a global view on best practice
8. Driving continual improvement via user feedback, research and data analytics
9. You will be open and willing to attend sustainability training relevant to your role and soak up recommended research and reading about sustainability issues
What you need to be great in this role:
1. Proven experience (5+ years) in planning and executing marketing and communications activities, preferably in the B2B space
2. Solid understanding of the B2B marketing environment and channel landscape
3. A clear understanding of the communications planning and creative process, likely gained from time spent in an agency or through close collaboration with agencies
4. Ability to think creatively and generate ideas as part of integrated communication strategies and plans
5. Proficiency in understanding and navigating complex organisations with a wide range of products and customers
6. Comfortable liaising directly with clients as well as with creative teams
7. Confident taking a big picture view on business issues, wider implications and long-term impact, as well as working on executional briefs
8. Strong organisation and communication skills, with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
