About the role
Reporting to the Sales Director you’ll be responsible for growing and managing the trade counter, maximising sales opportunities and efficiently managing stock. You’ll do this through:
* Day to day responsibility for managing activity across the trade counter, growing the customer base and finding areas of opportunity, as well as managing stock and inventory for a growing trade counter operation.
* Assisting in the warehouse, checking off deliveries, picking and packing orders, booking carriers, stock ordering and general warehouse housekeeping.
* Working closely with the internal sales team and warehouse colleagues, managing orders and shipments.
* Ensuring fast moving stock is maintained and we achieve agreed stock turnover.
* Introducing new stock in an orderly manner, organising to promote products on the trade counter.
* Lifting and carrying heavy objects within the warehouse and trade counter, unloading and loading vans/lorries when needed.
Initially an average of 30% of your time will be spent on the counter and 70% in the warehouse, so you must be willing to take on warehouse duties as part of the role. This split will increase to more time on the counter as you grow the trade sales.
About you
It’s essential that you’ve already gained experience of working in a plumber’s merchant and can prove a successful sales history, with evidence of growing sales and maximising opportunities through developing strong customer relationships. You’ll have excellent communication skills, be able to work on your initiative with minimal supervision and have a good working knowledge of warehouse health and safety.
You’ll also need to have the following:
* Experience of using sales order processing and stock management software.
* Warehouse management qualification or demonstrable experience of working systems in a busy warehouse environment.
* Microsoft Office experience.
* Willingness to learn and develop with a positive attitude.
* Full UK Driving licence.
A counterbalance forklift truck licence is desirable but not essential as we will provide full training.
