Job Description
The Role:
To manage, develop, improve and maintain the laboratory accreditation to ISO 17025. A key point of contact for UKAS audits and ensure accreditation is maintained on an annual basis.
Main duties:
1. The management of accreditation to ISO 17025 including internal audits, reporting of monthly quality metrics to Eurofins Group and Senior Management Team, extension to scope requests to UKAS, and assistance of external audits from UKAS and Eurofins global quality group
2. Implement quality management system processes and ensure compliance is upheld with the Quality Manual
3. Planning of quality assurance activities (e.g. proficiency testing schemes, inter-laboratory trials and intra-laboratory trials), review of results and subsequent action follow up.
4. Undertake impartial investigations of opportunities for improvement and customer complaints. Ability to make unbiased decisions on behalf of the quality team, and present report findings to the Quality Manager Group.
5. Manage internal and external calibration of laboratory equipment
6. Control of all documents relating to the quality management system including supplementary procedures, laboratory forms, uncertainty of measurement budgets, in house methods, laboratory books, quality documents, and standard operating procedures.
7. Identify skills gaps through audits and follow up by either training staff or identifying an appropriate resource to train
8. Support admin functions of the laboratory manager, which could be but not limited to:Method developmentObtaining quotationsArranging servicing/repair/calibration
9. Engage staff with the QMS and nurture a positive culture of quality
10. Member of the Quality Management Group with preparation of resources for weekly quality meeting
11. Assist staff with technical queries from customers and internally
Qualifications
What We Are Looking For:
12. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of ISO 17025 and ideally have attended Internal Auditor Course
13. Ideally, degree educated in a science related subject and have a good understanding of a testing laboratory and the equipment used
14. Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form
15. Competence in using Microsoft Office software in particular excel and word, knowledge of Power BI would be desirable for reporting metrics.
16. Demonstrate good time management, whilst maintaining a positive can-do attitude in a fast-paced environment
17. Well organised and excellent attention to detail as quality is core in everything we do
18. A flexible approach to working additional hours when required.
