About the Role:
Our client is looking to expand their in-house engineering team to provide additional engineering support on their contracts and projects. The role would suit a suitably qualified individual with a good degree of experience in a similar role and looking to develop and progress their career. The position will be office-based in Chelmsford but will also involve working out of the office to attend meetings and site visits as required. The role may require some out-of-normal hours working where specific project requirements dictate. Ideally, the position would suit someone who lives within a manageable traveling distance from our office in Chelmsford.
Responsibilities:
The role will involve all aspects of mechanical services engineering of our projects at a senior level, from enquiry or inception stage through to completion, including (but not limited to):
1. All mechanical services design using industry standard software, for calculations including thermal modelling. Developing mechanical services designs and production of technical documentation including working drawings, schematics, installation detail drawings, technical submittals, supporting design calculations etc., to a level of detail required for site installation.
2. Liaising with clients, main contractors and/or design teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
3. Co-ordinating services designs and requirements with the mechanical division and other external contractors.
4. Maintaining company standards and procedures in all aspects of work.
Essential Attributes:
1. Educated to a minimum of HNC level in Mechanical Services Engineering or equivalent related discipline.
2. Minimum of five years' work experience in a similar role and/or environment would be an advantage.
3. Ability to work alone and collectively as part of a team, working under the supervision and direction of senior management and directors.
4. Good working knowledge of relevant regulations and standards for mechanical & public health engineering installations.
5. Good working knowledge of mechanical services installations, materials, and installation types, techniques, and applications.
6. Good level of general computer literacy including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, etc.).
7. Experienced and proficient in the use of AutoCAD software.
8. Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing and managing your own workload and time effectively and efficiently.
9. Capable of coming up with technical solutions when encountering problems or challenges, proposing alternatives for the purposes of value engineering, and being comfortable in a client-facing role to represent the company professionally.
Desirable Attributes:
1. Educated to HND or Degree Level in Mechanical Engineering Services or equivalent related discipline.
2. Experience of using AutoDesk AutoCAD software.
