Job summary The Practice Development Midwife works as a member of the maternity and neonatal senior leadership team, supporting all activity in ensuring the maternity unit meets its educational and professional development responsibilities. The post holder will be a professional role model and autonomous practitioner, who will lead and manage educational and/or practice development activities for staff within the maternity unit and act as a clinical expert within the Trust, disseminating specialist skills and knowledge to others. The successful candidate will be part of the senior midwifery team and participate in clinical activity as required. Main duties of the job The postholder will ensure that continuing personal, professional and practice development is an active process, and that high quality midwifery care is delivered in line with current evidence-based practice. This role requires active involvement with audit, governance and quality or service improvement; ensuring learning from incidents and complaints are embedded into education.
