We are working with a large ‘Good Ofsted rated’ special school in Wandsworth SW12 postcode, who are looking to recruit experienced SEN Teaching Assistants who are experienced in BSL. These roles are long term positions. They will begin with a probationary period and if this is passed there are long term contracts available with potential permanent contract offers further down the line, starting on an agency worker basis. The school caters for children and young people who have cognitive disabilities and complex support needs. The ideal person will need to be flexible with a strong understanding of BSL. The school provides education for pupils are deaf and/or who have speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) Your working days will be: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday - 8:15am - 3:45pm Wednesday - 8:15am - 4:45pm It is essential that you have previous experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs, are confident in supporting children with HI and SLCN. Ongoing training will be provided at the school as well as refresher training throughout the year. You will need experience in the area below: HI - Hearing Impairment/Role supporting Deaf children: Any experience in using BSL (British Sign Language) or advanced Makaton is required. Any direct experience in working with adults or children who are Hearing Impaired or Deaf required.
