Job Title : General Cover Teacher (Ad-hoc) Location : Nuneaton, Warwickshire, UK Job Type : Ad-hoc, Temporary Start Date : Immediate Job Description: A secondary school in Nuneaton is seeking a reliable, flexible, and enthusiastic General Cover Teacher to join their team on an ad-hoc basis. As a cover teacher, you will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons across various subjects in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This role is perfect for those who enjoy variety in their teaching and are comfortable working with different subjects and age groups in a fast-paced and dynamic school environment. Key Responsibilities: Deliver Pre-Planned Lessons : Teach across a variety of subjects (e.g., English, Maths, Science, Humanities, and more) based on lesson plans provided by the absent teacher. Classroom Management : Ensure that students remain engaged and focused on their work by maintaining an effective and positive learning environment. Student Support : Offer support to students with tasks, ensuring they understand and complete work effectively. Provide additional assistance where necessary, including to students with special educational needs. Monitoring Progress : Track student progress during lessons and provide feedback on performance. Report any concerns regarding student behavior or work to the relevant department or leadership. Supervision : Supervise students during tests, coursework, or group activities as required. Flexibility : Be available for short-notice assignments, covering lessons across different year groups and subject areas as needed. Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (preferred but not essential). Experience working with secondary school-aged students (11-16 years) is desirable. Ability to teach across a variety of subjects, including core subjects like English, Maths, and Science. Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to maintain a calm and productive classroom environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to quickly adapt to new situations and classrooms. Proactive and flexible attitude towards teaching in different subject areas. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one). Desirable Skills: Specialism in one or more subjects, particularly English, Maths, or Science, is an advantage.
