Description of the Role:
Simply Education are currently seeking a talented and motivated Design Technology Teacher to join a well-established secondary school in Stockport. This exciting opportunity is ideal for an individual with a passion for teaching Design Technology, who is eager to inspire students in areas such as product design, engineering, and creative technologies. As a Design Technology teacher, you will play a key role in fostering a love for the subject, while ensuring students gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed academically and beyond.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality lessons in Design Technology, ensuring they are engaging, challenging, and tailored to the needs of all students.
Plan and prepare lessons that promote creativity, problem-solving, and the development of practical skills in areas such as product design, engineering, and CAD/CAM.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students, ensuring all students make progress and are supported in their learning.
Provide regular feedback on student progress, offering guidance on their projects and design processes.
Monitor and assess student achievement, keeping detailed records and reporting progress to school leadership and parents.
Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment, fostering student engagement and confidence.
Maintain high standards of health and safety in practical areas such as workshops and design studios.
Support students through their design projects, offering guidance in research, design, making, and evaluation.
Collaborate with colleagues in the Design Technology department and across the school to enhance the curriculum and share best practices.
Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum planning, and professional development opportunities.
Applicant Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a focus on Design Technology or a related subject.
Proven experience teaching Design Technology at secondary level (Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4).
Strong knowledge of the Design Technology curriculum, including product design, engineering, and CAD/CAM technologies.
Experience in managing practical sessions and maintaining a safe working environment in the classroom and workshop.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners.
Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Enhanced DBS check (we can assist with this if necessary).
