Brief Description
This role is a 21 hour per week job share, working on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday based in Manchester but travel is required to Carlisle, Carnforth & Preston.
The HR Business Partner delivers a holistic, influential, and proactive value add HR support service. The role works alongside the business leadership team, under the direction of the Head of HR and Senior HR Business Partner to deliver the business aligned People Plan/HR strategy and provide front line support, coaching and advice to members of our management teams.
This position manages client groups in the Lancs & Cumbria area based within North West route. You will provide geographical, face to face support to line managers in relation to highly complex employee relations cases, in line with formal Human Resources policies and procedures in addition to targeted line manager development. As such you will be expected to travel between client sites around the Lancs & Cumbria area.
About the role (External)
Every day will be different, but you can expect to be involved in the following activities:
1. Working closely with the supported business, to implement and deliver the HR Strategy/People Plan to include talent, succession planning and change management, in order to support the delivery of business objectives and drive a high-performance culture.
2. Work closely and build strong relationships with members of the supported business senior leadership team and other relevant stakeholders. Coach, advise and challenge, where appropriate, business leaders on short and medium term HR issues as required.
3. Provide operational HR support with employee relations issues, employee sickness and absence cases organisation change, planning and forecasting, senior appointments, salary and bonus, graduate or apprentice programmes.
4. Successfully deliver client responsive, cost effective and integrated people solutions that address key business objectives, gaining acceptance from key stakeholders.
5. Work with the broader HR function, including Centres of expertise, HR Direct and HR shared services teams to provide the best solutions for the business.
6. Work with appropriate Union representatives to support the business in delivering business solutions.
7. Liaise with HR Business Partners in other areas of the business in order to work collaboratively on cross business/geographical issues.
In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have/to be:
1. Demonstrates strong business/commercial approach and understanding of business needs.
2. Proven experience of working in partnership and building strong working relationships with senior managers in order to improve people management.
3. Passionate about customer service with ability to articulate previous achievements through business deliverables.
4. Employee relations experience, including supporting and advising line managers on disciplinary, grievance and sickness cases.
5. Knowledge and experience of implementing best practice HR solutions to drive a high performance culture.
6. Experience of coaching and influencing senior managers.
7. Excellent communication skills and ability to negotiate and influence effectively with all levels of an organisation.
8. Understands how to work with the business to identify, develop and retain talent.
9. Excellent technical HR Knowledge - CIPD qualified or relevant experience to demonstrate level of competence.
10. Proven track record of operating in a complex working environment.
11. Involvement in organisation change programmes e.g. TUPE, Organisation re-design, redundancy programmes, etc.
12. Graduate calibre.
Desired:
1. MCIPD/post-graduate human resources qualification.
2. Understanding of project management principles and experience of managing complex projects to successful conclusion.
3. Experience of managing projects to successful conclusion.
4. Experience of working within a unionised environment.
