We're looking for enthusiastic people to join our 2025 intake of an IT Service Desk Apprentice and we welcome applications from all backgrounds. Please note that while the Service Desk team work 24/7 this role will be Monday to Friday 8-4, although throughout the apprenticeship you will do a couple of night or weekend day shifts for the experience. One day a week you will be at college as part of your Apprenticeship programme.
The Opportunity
Are you passionate about building a career in IT? Gatwick Airport is now looking for an exceptional IT Apprentice to join our IT Service Desk team.
Gatwick Airport is a fantastic and unique place to work, presenting opportunities to grow with innovative technology adoption and continual passenger growth. As an IT Apprentice you will work within the IT Department, with a full insight into exactly what it takes to help keep IT Operations stable at the world's busiest single runway airport. As well as completing this Apprenticeship with Industry Standard recognised qualifications you will also gain strong working knowledge of the wide range of systems that support the Airport. Some of these include (but are not limited to):
* The flight information screens which tell passengers where to go
* The self-service check in kiosks for dropping off your bags
* Wi-Fi across the airport
* Passenger e-Gates that let people scan their boarding cards
* Baggage systems
* Document management systems
* Remote screening for Security
This 2-year IT Apprenticeship will combine studying as well as full term employment. The objective is to ensure that you get strong working knowledge of being an IT Service Desk Analyst; for anyone thinking about a career in IT this is a perfect starting point as you develop your customer service and IT technical skills.
During Year One you will be primarily based on the IT Service Desk, focussing on 1st and 2nd line IT support. This will align with your studying programme. In Year Two you will spend time with Desktop Support Team as well as continuing your development on the IT Service Desk. Throughout the two years, you will also gain insight and experience in other key teams in IT including Cyber Security, Networks, Infrastructure and Application Support.

* Have actual or predicted GCSE Level 4/5 or above in Maths, English and a Science Subject
* Be passionate about IT and customer service with a desire to learn

* Able to commit to a two-year programme
