An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Pathology IT Manager, with good interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to team working to join the Pathology service, across both the Chelsea and Sutton sites.
The major focus of the role will be the implementation of the Digital strategy within the overall Pathology service area, acting as a subject matter expert in complex programmes delivering digital-enabled transformation. These include providing support for the various implementations across Pathology and Clinical Genomics.
Completion of full integration of the service following the recent Epic LIMS/EPR implementation is another key focus.
The role will provide advice to executive bodies, the service and wider Trust groups on Pathology IT issues and future strategies based on changing technologies and legislation or guidelines; ensuring that digital solutions continue to meet user and stakeholder needs, ensuring minimal clinical risk to patients and financial risk to the service.
The role will be responsible for Quality and Governance of IT systems within the service, ensuring provision of training for service staff in the use of IT systems and documentation.
The post holder will be responsible for deputising the Pathology IT Manager in a team of 4 staff.
Main duties of the job
* To maintain hardware and software in the Pathology departments on all sites, including configuration and administration of laboratory systems.
* To support proactive performance monitoring to ensure that Pathology systems are functioning correctly, take appropriate remedial action, analyser patterns and raise Problem concerns with IT service desk duty manager as required.
* To respond to and report equipment failure, irregularities in equipment performance and breakdowns to the appropriate company or Trust department for correction.
* To contribute to the production and maintenance of technical documentation and operational procedures.
Person specification
Education
* Educated to post graduate level or equivalent experience
* ITIL Foundation qualification or experience in leading system change
* Degree in Biomedical Science or related specialty
Experience
* IT Systems management with multiple integrated systems in a complex stakeholder environment, preferably in Pathology or other clinical systems.
* Line management experience or equivalent.
* Significant experience in laboratory systems administration and end-user support.
* Production of quality documentation around systems implementation and operation.
* Significant experience in Project delivery of complex clinical systems or laboratory equipment.
* Experience of managing multiple hospital systems, preferably within pathology.
* Experience of working with systems undergoing constant change, consisting of formal projects and ‘BAU’ changes.
* Staff management.

* Knowledgeable of IT systems management, best practice and relevant standard requirements.
* Knowledgeable of information security, data protection, and best practice management of patient and clinical information.
* Excellent ability to analyse systems workflow and problem solve independently.
* Ability to build relations with internal and external partners which are critical in securing service delivery and continuous improvement.
* Production of complex system documents and standard operating procedures for technical and/or scientific teams.

* Capable of autonomous working.
* Ability to deliver structured training to users on new systems.
* Ability to support operations with writing of test plans and test scripts to manage change safely.
