Harrow Council is looking for a Community Safety Officer to address anti-social behaviour problems in Harrow and coordinate action to ensure that the Council response is informed, appropriate, and draws on effective practice.
Responsibilities:
* Educate and work in partnership with relevant organisations to enhance the safety and well-being of the public.
* Work collaboratively and carry out work schedules to service standards to achieve high standards and customer satisfaction.
* Use IT systems and specialist software relevant to the appropriate disciplines, including recording of all work to allow performance management analysis.
* Be responsible for technical and other equipment required for the efficient performance of duties, including operating expertise and interpretation of results.
* Provide professional, expert, and up-to-date technical advice to residents, businesses, Members, and key stakeholders.
* Issue letters, notices, legal documents, formal cautions, warnings, and other documents as required by legislation, guidance, and policies.
* Keep abreast of legislative, technical, and professional developments in relation to anti-social behaviour legislation and policy.
* In line with authorisation, carry out investigations, instigate and prepare prosecutions, attend court proceedings, and deliver evidence in the event of statutory action taken for breaches.
* Ensure full compliance with established legal procedures and legislation relevant to the preservation of evidence and court procedures, including PACE, CPIA, RIPA, and similar.
* Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, find innovative solutions to problems, and influence stakeholders to adopt best practice approaches to meet Council and Statutory outcomes.
* Advise councillors, managers, and senior officers on legislation relevant to the role of the team.
* Exercise professional judgement in contentious or legal cases to protect the environment, residents, businesses, and the interests of the wider community.
* Participate in and lead on publicity campaigns, customer service improvement plans, and joint initiatives across Council services and with other agencies as directed.
* Investigate service requests and complaints emanating from domestic and commercial premises, taking appropriate enforcement or prevention actions as appropriate.
* Recognise and ascertain risks and impacts on individuals and/or the community, making clear decisions and taking relevant mitigating actions.
* Contribute to the development of strategies, policies, and statutory plans in relation to anti-social behaviour and associated services.
* Work as required to deliver objectives set out in operational plans and service plans to achieve high standards of service delivery.
* Contact management as a matter of priority in respect of any item which is, or appears to be, of a serious nature and could impact service delivery.
Pay rate: £24.13 umbrella an hour.
