This is a truly exciting time to begin or continue your career with our first-class business, as a Forensic Analyst you will be responsible for the analytical analysis of trace material using (for example) scanning electron microscopy, gas chromatography and/or FTIR. Although rarely requested, this role occasionally requires production of a suitable witness statement and attendance at Courts of Law. Due to the highly sensitive nature of the work, applicants should note that security clearance is required for this role. To gain security clearance you must have five years continuous residency in the UK. Security clearance is undertaken by a third party to police personnel vetting standards (NPPV/3 and SC), as such any criminal convictions may prevent you from gaining security clearance. In addition, all successful applicants will be required to undertake drug and alcohol testing prior to commencing employment Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities The successful candidate will:- Undertake analysis of trace material, as generated during item examinations. Complete/ project manage validation research projects, including production of compliance reports for accreditation. Produce and assess generated results for use in forensic cases. Carry out analysis as per standard operating procedures to required timescales. Be responsible for the integrity and continuity of exhibits. Communicate with other scientists as appropriate throughout the lifetime of a case.
