The South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw (SYB) Pathology Network is a fully integrated network providing pathology services across five regional sites:

Main duties of the job
The post holder will act as an HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist providing scientific services to patients as an aid to clinical diagnosis. The successful candidate will be required to participate on the 24/7 shift rota and undertake a wide range of complex analytical procedures, performing a range of manual, semi-automated and automated tests using scientific knowledge and experience to comment upon and validate results in line with ISO 15189.
Suitable candidates will require Haematology experience post-registration and ideally have experience of working out of hours. Candidates must be in possession of an IBMS specialist portfolio in either Haematology or Blood Sciences, or equivalent to be appointed at Band 6. However, registered candidates either working towards or aspiring to complete their specialist portfolio will be considered for appointment at Band 5.
Please also note this vacancy is banded dependent upon applicants' experience relevant to this post. The banding of the successful applicant/s will start at Band 5 unless applicants meet the necessary threshold of skills and experience required to start on Band 6.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* IBMS accredited BSC in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent
* Registered with HCPC as a Biomedical Scientist
* Completion of IBMS post graduate registration portfolio or equivalent
* Commitment to complete and maintain Mandatory Training and required Laboratory competencies
* Completed the relevant Specialist BMS IBMS portfolio or equivalent
* Evidence of continued CPD including relevant courses with regards to H&S, leadership, quality or training
Experience
* Experience with a range of laboratory techniques
* Understanding of job content
* Ability to work with other colleagues to improve and develop working practices

Salary: £29,970 to £44,962 a year pa/pro rata for part time staff
