What is the Role:
First Line Risk Management (FLRM) is a First Line function responsible for the delivery and maintenance of a high-quality first line risk and control environment in AIB UK. A vacancy now exists for the Head of First Line Risk Management to lead the teams responsible for first line risk management activities such as risk and control assessment, first line assurance, and governance requirements in AIB UK.
The role will report directly to the Head of Customer and Business Enablement and provides an exciting opportunity to play an instrumental role in delivering on AIB UK’s ambitious growth strategy by leading and maximising the effectiveness of the First Line Risk Management team to deliver a high-quality risk and control environment.
The role will cover a team based in Belfast and London and offers the successful candidate unique opportunities to work across the business in the UK as well as with colleagues in AIB Group, offering insight into risk management in a multi-jurisdictional environment.
The successful candidate will also form part of the management team within Customer & Business Enablement as well as being a member of the UK Extended Management Team.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Leader who will bring energy to the team and work collaboratively across all functions in support of UK strategy delivery.
Key Accountabilities:
* Accountable for the maintenance of an appropriate and robust control environment for the UK Bank by leading and maximising the effectiveness of the UK centralised first line risk management function to achieve high quality and consistent first line control.
* Work with UK functional teams to ensure appropriate risk identification and internal controls are in place to manage risk and identify and propose solutions for thematic issues.
* Establish an effective working relationship with Business teams, Credit Risk, Operational Risk, Compliance, and Group Internal Audit to ensure efficient and effective fulfilment of the three lines of defence model.
* Be an active and contributing member of the functional management team as well as leading a high-performing FLRM team through role modelling strong leadership and development skills.
* Maximise the independent assurance and testing skills of the first line assurance team including full application of the Group First Line Assurance Methodology.
* Manage the UK Business Risk profile and Risk Control Assessment process on behalf of UKMD.
