Interim Revenues Officer/Admin – Financial Services

Pay Rate: £20.86 per hour PAYE
Hours per week: 37 Monday - Friday, Flexible working times between 7am and 6pm.
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 5 months
City: City of Bristol
This role is 100 % remote or the candidate can work from Bristol City Hall if choose to.
The purpose of the role is to administer council tax and business rates, ensuring accurate and prompt billing, collection, and recovery of accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
Obtain and assess information to determine local taxation liability in accordance with legislation. This includes determination and allowance of discounts, reliefs, and exemptions.
Accurately update and maintain the revenues databases to ensure prompt and accurate billing, collection, and recovery of accounts
Respond appropriately to enquiries received from citizens, businesses and agents and action amendments to accounts.
Agree repayment plans and determine appropriate recovery action that takes account of the person’s circumstances whilst maximising collection.
Contribute to the review of working practices, procedures, and documents by making suggestions for improvement in service delivery and performance.
Take part in the training or coaching of other colleagues either on a one-to-one basis or in a formal training environment e.g. to assist with the induction of new staff.
Qualifications:
5 GCSE’s, Grades A-C, or equivalent including English and Mathematics.
Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Experience in the collection or recovery of revenue (public or private sector).
A thorough knowledge of local taxation law or experience which demonstrates the ability to absorb and understand complex legislation.
Ability to contribute ideas for service development.
An adaptable and positive outlook to cope with pressure and change.
Ability to work with minimum supervision and to deliver work to agreed targets and standards.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite, Mosaic).
