We are seeking a consultant with enthusiasm, commitment, and drive to work closely with colleagues throughout the organisation and within the community to help lead the organisation.
We are looking to appoint a new Locum Consultant in ENT (Otology) that will enhance the service of our ENT department that covers a population of approximately 560,000 patients with on-call cover population of around 1 million (shared with West Herts NHS Trust). The Trust is the largest in Hertfordshire and in the Integrated care services network and will soon to be a teaching hospital for the medical school based at the University of Hertfordshire.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide general ENT service with on-call cover for East and North Herts and West Herts (all of Hertfordshire).
2. To work alongside existing Consultant Otologist to provide otology cover for the trust and region including complex middle ear, balance, hearing implants, paediatric hearing loss and hearing MDT.
3. To participate in the department’s teaching, audit, research and educational activities.
Person specification
Qualifications / Training
* Entry on GMC Specialist Register or, be within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or, provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register.
* Higher surgical training in ENT within a recognised programme.
* Fellowship training in advanced otology and auditory implants.
Previous Experience
* Broad range of experience in ENT.
* Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues.
* Ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion.
* Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice.
Skills
* Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and the learning from errors.
* Evidence engagement with appraisal and revalidation.
