We are currently recruiting for a Design Manager to work on the HS2 Project. The Design Manager is responsible for discharging the duties for construction support under the scope of the Main Works Civil Contract. The estimated timeframe of the position is through December 2026.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Establishing a team to deliver the services which will consist of site-based representatives as well as office-based support.
2. Site support consists of:
1. Responding to TQ’s / RFI’s / EWN’s.
2. Reviewing Temporary Works designs for integration with the permanent works design.
3. Reviewing and accepting permanent works materials.
4. Reviewing fabrication details for integration with the permanent works.
5. Producing as-built records and details.
6. Contributing to Quarterly Reports and participating in Quarterly Reviews with the end client.
7. Providing safety leadership within the organisation.
8. Monitoring and supporting the Site Support Team to ensure that the end client is receiving the contracted-for services.
9. Maintaining consistency across all teams.
10. Liaising with the Construction Services Manager regarding resource requirements to align with construction activities.
11. Meeting budget, timeframe, and quality targets, meeting or exceeding client expectations.
12. Promoting and marketing all facets of the services during interfaces with clients and other sectors and disciplines, contributing towards the achievement of the divisional business plan, and building networks within the industry.
Responsibilities:
1. Supervising and leading the above-mentioned staff.
2. Responding to inquiries from the contractor e.g., TQ’s, RFI’s, etc.
3. Reviewing Temporary Works designs.
4. Reviewing and approving construction materials.
5. Reviewing fabrication details and shop drawings.
6. Reporting results and preparing reports.
7. Producing As-built Drawings.
8. Contributing to the Quarterly Reports as required by the Contract Scope.
9. Providing safety leadership for the teams.
10. Monitoring that all Site-based staff and Site visitors have been trained and inducted prior to working or visiting the sites.
Knowledge & Experience:
1. BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng.
2. 10 years of experience including the development and implementation of solutions, preferably on rail projects.
3. Demonstrated proficiency in English, both speaking and writing.
