Job summary BLADDER AND BOWEL SERVICE - RNA/AP/CLINICAL SUPPORT WORKER - CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE'S TEAM An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 RNA/AP/Clinical Support Worker to join the Specialist Bladder and Bowel Team in the Community and Intermediate Care Division of East Lancashire Hospital's NHS Trust. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated Nurse Associate, Assistant Practitioner, or Support worker with a relevant qualification, who is passionate about caring for children and young people with bladder or bowel dysfunction to join our dynamic and friendly team. You will be joining an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Community Bladder and Bowel Team to support the children and young people's specialist nurses in promoting continence and managing long term bladder and bowel conditions. The post holder will provide a range of support and interventions for individual children and young people, parents, and carers, and, where appropriate, to groups alongside registered nursing colleagues. You will also work autonomously to support planned care aimed at promoting continence through education and toilet training strategies. An ability to teach carers, patients, and professionals, in bladder and bowel management is essential and excellent communication skills are required. Initial and on-going training and support is very much part of the team philosophy and informal discussions and visits are encouraged. Main duties of the job To apply knowledge and understanding of specific physical, emotional, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of the service users and their carers, taking these into account when implementing planned care o Deliver structured toileting programmes in conjunction with the registered nurses, support children and young people with idiopathic constipation, day and night-time wetting, and toilet training difficulties. o Manage and prioritise your own workload as delegated by the senior registered nurses in the team. o Undertake home visits, clinic-based care, and visits to education facilities to support the care planned for children and young people and to provide education and training for families, caregivers, and other professionals concerned with the care for the individual child or young person. o Assist in the assessment of children and young people who require containment products or other equipment to manage their continence or long-term bladder and bowl conditions.
