Due to our ongoing growth within the UK, we are recruiting for a qualified Solicitor to join our Legal team in Southwest of England.
Reporting into the Head of Legal UK, this is a highly varied role, and you'll provide legal advice and support on legal issues affecting the business, which will involve working with the following key business functions: Commercial, Projects, Purchasing, Regulatory, Risk and Finance.
You'll ideally have up to 3 years PQE experience in construction, or commercial law with a leading international law firm or in-house team. Previous in-house experience in the Energy/Nuclear sector or a strong interest in the energy sector is highly desirable and you'll have excellent drafting and presentation skills, with excellent attention to detail.
The role is part of global legal team and will work closely with the wider legal department. The role is extensive and varied, and the candidate must be prepared to adapt to evolving job demands and may be asked to undertake duties that may not be detailed in their job description, but which they may reasonably be expected to perform.
Principal Responsibilities:
* Prepare, review, lead and assist in the negotiation of various contracts, NDAs, Sub-consultancy agreements, joint venture agreements and other commercial matters as required.
* Identify clauses that present legal, insurance and commercial risks. Propose alternative wording, and liaise with project leaders, other in-house counsel, and/or clients to facilitate changes in a timely manner.
* Contribute to best practices regarding standard contract management, tools, and precedents.
* Provide support, and management as directed by the Head of Legal UK, of claims involving the company.
* Provide in-house training.
* Contribute to the maintenance standard terms and conditions for the business.
* Assist in export control matters.
* Assist with general risk management and corporate governance (including Company Secretarial matters).
To be considered, we require the following qualifications, skills and experience:
* Qualified Solicitor with a wealth of experience within construction or commercial law and with an international law firm or in house team would be advantageous.
* Experience of working within the energy or nuclear sector a distinct advantage.
* Experience of working within a highly regulated industry preferred
* Excellent drafting and presentation skills
