Assistant Management Accountant
Gillingham (with some travel to subsidiaries as required)

An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Management Accountant to join our client's finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and reporting financial information, ensuring accuracy, and supporting business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare monthly management accounts in line with group deadlines
2. Complete variance analysis and provide commentary on overheads versus budget
3. Assist the Financial Controller with commentary to support financial results
4. Prepare quarterly VAT returns
5. Support the external audit process and respond to auditor queries
6. Identify areas for improvement within financial reporting across the business
7. Contribute to process improvements within the finance department
8. Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
9. Maintain the chart of accounts, ensuring a consistent approach to new nominal codes
10. Provide accurate and timely financial information to support business needs
11. Undertake additional duties as required
Key Requirements:
1. Qualified or newly qualified accountant
2. Strong experience with Excel and Sage
3. Background in a multi-site or service industry environment
4. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work accurately with high volumes of data
5. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels
6. A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
7. Comfortable using Microsoft Office
