Assembly and Production Operatives - Derby City Centre
Start dates: Anticipated between January & February 2025
Hours: Monday-Thursday 8:00am-4:30pm & Friday 8:00am-1:30pm (37.5 hours a week) early finish on Fridays - during peak times may be required to work extra on Fridays.
Pay rate: Starting from £13.57 per hour, further pay enhancements will be offered once fully trained. Up to £14.50 per hour.
Contract: Full time - Ongoing full-time position
Please note: To be considered for this position, you must have a minimum amount of time with experience using hand tools, including electric and air tools. Experience in a manufacturing environment building products or in the transportation industry will be highly considered.

Your new role will involve, but is not limited to:
Working within a small team of operatives (up to 5 to 10 people) who offer a friendly, family-like atmosphere of work, with early finishes on Fridays, and on occasions, breakfast is offered too.
You will be required to work both as part of a small team and individually, assembling gangways and other products for the transportation industry, including trains, trams, and buses, ensuring excellent attention to detail and taking pride in your work.
In this role you will:
* Use hand power tools regularly on a repetitive basis, such as drills, hammer drills, jigsaws, etc. This is essential for this position and experience is required as there will be a skill test.
* Use and build metal frames to be incorporated into trains/buses.
* Read design drawings to produce products in a timely manner.
* Drill and fix screws and other small components into place.
* Quality check products to ensure they are safe to use.
* Be on your feet, working at a workbench carrying out repetitive production and assembly tasks.
* Assist in the production of products that are to be used on transport such as trains, trams, and buses.
* Set up and use machinery, as well as work with hand tools - essential experience with hand power tools is required; there will be an assessment on site before you start.
* Work on a line, assembling goods in a factory or warehouse.
* Adhere to all health and safety regulations on site and ensure general compliance is followed.
* Understand and work to company policies and procedures.
* Report accidents and incidents immediately.
* Complete tasks in a specific section of an assembly line while meeting targets.
* Report any issues with machinery or goods on the assembly line.
* Work safely and ensure you meet health and safety requirements.
* As you gain more experience and responsibility, you may be required to train or mentor new members of staff or run specific sections.
The ideal candidate:
* Has worked in a production and assembly environment or similar. Essential
* Has used handheld tools previously and is confident in using them. Essential
* Knowledge within manufacturing and building components.
* Enjoys making products by hand and has conducted home maintenance tasks.
* Has attention to detail, drive, and ambition to do a fantastic job.
* Is looking for a long-term role that can lead to a permanent position.
* Is willing to be trained and progress.
* Can work as part of a small team as well as individually.
* Has the ability to use initiative when completing tasks.
* Is able to meet with the client for an interview and skills test.
* Is down-to-earth, honest, and reliable.
* Has the ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
