Position: CI Engineer (Continuous Improvement)
Location: Royston, Hertfordshire
Salary: circa £45K plus benefits package – 37.5 hours per week

PRS Engineering have engaged with a new client and an FTSE listed International Aerospace Manufacturer. Opportunity based in Hertfordshire; we are seeking a CI Engineer on a permanent basis. This part of the business specialises in precision machined components, assemblies and emerging markets.
The role of the CI Engineer is to proactively identify and implement improvements within the manufacturing environment, using lean tools and a data-driven approach in order to create value (efficiency/safety/quality). Develop tools, techniques and processes to address manufacturing issues relating to ergonomics, safety, quality, and cost.
The CI Engineer will also be responsible for actioning technical changes (routing/BOM’s/technical instructions/etc.), via Engineering stamp allocation.
The ability to proactively communicate clearly within a group environment is essential, as is enthusiasm, cooperation, and a positive outlook.
An understanding of the processes and procedures involved in the day-to-day operation of an Engineering department is important, as is the ability to prioritise.
Continuous Improvement Engineer – What will my responsibilities include?
* Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, waste removal, and cost reduction by identifying non-value-added activities.
* Working alongside the Engineering function within SATE to officialise and action technical changes.
* Support & facilitate Practical Problem Solving (PPS) & root cause analysis.
* Plan, facilitate, and execute continuous improvement events using Lean Six Sigma tools.
* Work to continuously improve processes both on the shop floor and office areas by collaborating with various departments.
* Work in conjunction with the Operations team to organise and manage manufacturing workflows and resources, optimising facility layout.
* Using lean tools and a data-driven approach, find ways to reduce cost and improve quality.
* Ensure that manufacturing procedures follow safety, environmental & quality regulations.
* Support SQDIP board management.
Key Requirements:
* Experience working in a manufacturing company, preferably within an Aerospace environment.
* Understanding of lean principles, tools and techniques (Eg. Value stream mapping, Process mapping, 8 wastes, 5S, Time observations, Value add/non-value add etc.)
* Proven track record in the use and deployment of lean manufacturing tools, techniques, and systems.
* 6 Sigma (or equivalent) qualified.
* Self-motivated, organised with excellent time management skills.
* Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Computer literate including MS Office.
