Then, read on. This could be the next adventure in your career. We have a fantastic opportunity for a Flooding & Drainage Engineer to join our Amey Consulting team in Scotland.
We have design hubs in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Motherwell, Perth, and Aberdeen, along with additional office space in Dumfries, Ayr, Dundee, Nairn, and Huntly. Our Amey Consulting Scotland Team is involved in designing some of the largest civil engineering and associated infrastructure projects across Scotland with cumulative values in excess of £1bn.
The Role:
You will be involved in existing frameworks which will provide the opportunity to lead and undertake hydraulic modelling and flood and surface water management studies, water environmental impact assessments, hydrological assessments, and associated modelling and SuDS designs.
Amey is involved in the complete project lifecycle, from feasibility design through detailed design to construction, and knowledge of these processes is required. You will provide support and guidance to assistant engineers within a design team to ensure compliance with all relevant technical standards and that the delivery of all specified project outcomes is on time, within budget, and to the required quality.
Responsibilities:
1. Implement project requirements to fully meet client specifications in accordance with relevant standards.
2. Undertake any work of a technical nature that falls within ability and competence.
3. Assist with competency appraisal processes subject to suitable supervision.
4. Carry out site visits, surveys, inspections, and work with sub-contractors.
5. Prepare and check feasibility studies, inspection, assessment, and technical reports ensuring compliance with Amey procedures.
6. Comply with the requirements of the Amey Integrated Management System including Health & Safety, Environmental, and all other appropriate regulations.
7. Prepare/check design approach, calculations, drawings, and documents.
8. Supervise junior design team and modeller members to help ensure timely project delivery is achieved within budget and according to specifications.
9. Engage in client and third-party liaison.
10. Keep up to date with industry best practices and apply them within the team environment.
11. Support learning and development opportunities for self and other team members.
Qualifications:
We want to hear from you if you are:
1. Degree qualified, preferably MSc/PhD in relevant Hydrology, Water Resources, Environmental, and/or Flood Management related studies.
2. Chartered (CIWEM, CEnv, CEng, or relevant equivalent professional qualification) or approaching achieving relevant professional qualification.
3. Experienced in ICM 1D/2D, Hec-Ras, Microdrainage hydraulic modelling, and SuDS design.
4. Knowledgeable of water-related EIAs, Hydrogeological or hydro-geomorphological studies and methodologies.
5. Experienced in Surface Water Management and Flood Risk Management Plans.
6. Proficient in computer literacy with MS Office suite and relevant engineering software packages, particularly CAD.
7. Experienced in working with Local Authorities, Transportation authorities, Water Authorities/Companies, Developers, or Environment Agencies.
8. Possessing good written and oral communication and organizational skills to produce reports.
