Job summary
The Estates department at the Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby has an exciting opportunity for a multi-skilled craftsperson with a Commercial Pipefitter / Plumber bias and Electrical knowledge to join the onsite maintenance team. The engineering estate is significant, and your skills & knowledge will be vital in assisting with the upkeep and maintenance of steam raising plant, complex water systems, specialised heating, refrigeration & ventilation systems, complicated drainage and waste systems and specialised mechanical services plant and equipment areas.
A Multiskilled Craftsperson position plays a key role within the Estates Engineering Maintenance Services department. The post leads, supports and mentors the wider maintenance team in the delivery of planned preventative and reactive maintenance regimes that contribute to a safe, cost effective, efficient, and compliant hospital site.
The post holder will undertake works relating to the maintenance and repairs of Trust properties, equipment, grounds & gardens ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, health technical memorandum's, trust policies and procedures to ensure a clean, safe and functional environment for patients, public and staff to support the delivery of patient care.
This post has an additional pay element through out of hours on call support, which provides overnight and weekend maintenance service on a rota basis throughout the year.
Main duties of the job
The post is site-based but you may be required to work at any other Trust sites as necessary. The post holder will:
* be a member of a small group of technical staff who manage and operate complex technical systems and processes across the Trust, ensuring compliance with Trust standard operating procedures, policies and procedures and legislation.
* be appointed to named competent roles in keeping with requirements laid down in Hospital Technical Memorandums (HTM) and Health and Safety documentation.
* support the estates workshop manager with the implementation of planned, reactive and routine maintenance.
* be responsible for the implementation and sign off of documentation along with the responsibility of asset management and technical support for the Estate across all trades according to competence and skill level and allocation from the estates workshop manager, estates officers and Senior Estates Manager.
* complete data entry into paper and electronic systems (e.g. the completion of all job dockets, asset management details, time sheets and stock sheets).
* participate in the Estates & Engineering out of hours "On call" rota.
* have attained a good standard of general education and be able to demonstrate continued professional development across engineering trades and other construction disciplines.
* undertake on the job training or other training away from the place of work as dictated by the requirements of the role.

Person Specification
Education and qualifications
Essential
* Qualified to Level 4 or equivalent (ONC / HNC) and undertaken time served apprenticeship in Building Services, or mechanical engineering.
* Demonstrable experience in commercial pipefitting, plumbing, heating, gas fitting or mechanical engineering commensurate with the requirements of the role.
* Qualified to Level 3 Leadership & Management.
* IOSH Managing Safely
* Qualified to minimum Level 2 English & Maths and have effective standard of spoken English and use of mathematics.
* Computer literate with good IT skills including demonstrable training and effective use of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams & Powerpoint.
* Experience & effective use of computer maintenance management systems (CMMS).
* Hold a full UK Driving License
Desirable
* Possess demonstrable knowledge of NHS procedures for the operational maintenance at an acute hospital site.
* Knowledge of health care maintenance regimes, trust policies, health and safety and other legislation relevant to the position.
* Experience working on large commercial water systems, piped medical gas systems, steam & condensate systems, compressed air & ventilation systems.
* Qualified to Level 3 in commercial pipefitting, gas technology & utilization, plumbing & heating or mechanical engineering.
* IOSH Working Safely
* CSCS Card.
* BOAS Operator or equivalent
* CCN1 Core Gas Safety or equivalent
