This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join our Wheelchair Service. The post holder will be working as a wheelchair therapist, collaborating in an experienced and skilled team to support wheelchair provision and postural management for patients in Redcar/Cleveland and Middlesbrough.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder should have experience in occupational therapy/physiotherapy assessment and management of patients with a range of conditions, including wheelchair provision.
The ability to travel independently is essential, as you will work across Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland, providing a service within patients' own homes and nursing homes.
The post holder will be supported by the Senior Specialist Therapist and senior therapists in the team, along with the AHP Service Lead.
This post offers development in clinical and leadership skills, with support to attend relevant postgraduate courses. We have an established training program, and our staff are encouraged in their CPD through workshops, clinical supervision, and the appraisal process. There is also an opportunity to participate in audit and research, with close links to the University of Teesside and Durham University.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* Hold a Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
* Registered as an Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist and fit to practice by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
* Committed to continuing professional development
Experience
* Experience working as a student/postgraduate in the NHS
* Experience in a variety of clinical areas as a student/postgraduate, including some wheelchair provision
* Evidence of supervision of students and therapy assistants
Personal Attributes
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
* Ability to work under own initiative
Knowledge and Skills
* Effective communication skills, able to communicate complex, sensitive, and contentious information to patients, carers, and colleagues.
