Job Responsibilities:
* Responsible for owning and delivering all new Tooling projects.
* To review and buy off Tooling designs.
* Project management of tooling suppliers.
* Attend buy off events and oversee sampling and commissioning at suppliers and home line.
* Own and manage Pre and Final acceptance tests.
* Produce 2D product, tooling, fixture, equipment drawings to support manufacturing, quality and engineering activities.
* Part Feasibility reviews and to apply design for Manufacturability (DFM) principals to evaluate product designs.
* Complete understanding of part tolerances, dimensional capability statistics and GD&T.
* Generate and develop Part and Tooling CAD models using SolidWorks or CATIA and Produce 2D product, tooling, fixture, equipment drawings to support manufacturing, quality and engineering activities.
* Capable of interrogating flow analysis reports.
* Generate SOR, RFQ to support engineering and quoting activities.
* Support continuous improvement activities through effective use of 3D and 2D CAD to propose product design changes and tooling improvements.
* Participate in root-cause analysis and implement countermeasures.
* Maintain master tool drawings and facilitate access to Toolroom staff for all tooling maintenance – minimizing downtime and costs.
* Assist with department standardisation process.
* Validation of Flow and thermal analysis during production, work closely with toolroom and process engineers to capture lessons learned.
* Review current production tooling issues and identify areas for improvement.
* Take a hands on approach in assisting toolroom with improvement activities.
EXPERIENCE:
Essential
* 2D and 3D CAD Software - SolidWorks and Catia.
* Tooling design (Preferably die cast, Stamping, Mould design).
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Packages.
* Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with customers.
Desirable
* ONC/HNC Apprenticeship or equivalent either in Mechanical or Electrical Eng’g.
* Six sigma.
* Root Cause Analysis.
* Lean Manufacturing experience.
* DFMEA and PFMEA.
* Previous Automotive experience.
* Time served shopfloor toolroom Engineer.
* FEA/MAGMA Experience.
* Understanding of Aluminium Cast part manufacturing processes.

* Good organisational and planning skills to manage own time and to meet deadlines and objectives.

* Flexibility to travel overseas at short notice.
