About apprenticeships at Mears Group:
Apprenticeships are an underpinning part of Mears’ philosophy; we are committed to developing the next generation of our workforce. Many of our most senior people started their working life as an apprentice.
Whether you are fresh out of school or college or looking for a complete career change, Mears can offer you a great foundation to your future career and beyond.
All our Apprentices are paid the Nationally agreed apprenticeship rates, and you will be paid for your normal working hours plus your attendance at college. You will have the opportunity to gain real-life experiences, such as working in people’s homes, getting involved in community projects, and improving people’s lives by being customer-focused.
What does life as a Plasterer look like:
Plastering is a core function within the construction sector, especially in house building and refurbishments. As a plasterer, you will learn about different products and understand how to manage a job, which will vary depending on the materials you are using. You will be responsible for mixing and applying various kinds of plaster to inside walls and ceilings, working with dry lining, and applying protective coverings onto external walls such as pebble dashing to protect and waterproof buildings. Roles in plastering are physical and may involve lifting and moving equipment, working at height, and working inside and outside.
The apprenticeship course will cover the following:
1. Develop and maintain good working relations
2. Conform to workplace health, safety, and welfare
