Job summary Band 4 Play Specialist providing holistic and supportive care to children, young people and their families, prior to a general anaesthetic at UHNM. To provide a safe and welcoming environment within PreAMS, demonstrating a caring and compassionate attitude, towards all children and their families. Main duties of the job The children and young people's pre-anaesthetic management service (CYP PreAMS) aims to provide a multidisciplinary assessment for all children and young people requiring a planned anaesthetic; ensuring all medical, physical and emotional needs are met before admission to hospital. The objectives of CYP PreAMS are: To ascertain a patient's suitability for anaesthetic and proposed procedure through clinical assessment and health screening Optimise health conditions Provide psychological preparation and anxiety management Support patients with additional needs - learning disabilities, autism, ADHD etc Improve safety and quality of care through multidisciplinary team working, shared decision making and robust care planning Provide up to date and relevant information to children and families to ensure informed consent Create an opportunity for health promotion / safeguarding - making every contact count.
