Senior Design Manager - Electrical - Nuclear
Location: Dartford, Manchester or Derby | Contract Type: Permanent | Hours: Full Time
Are you an expert in electrical power systems with a flair for design integration?
Ready to take the next big step in your career?
Then we want to hear from you!
The Opportunity
Laing O'Rourke is delivering some of the most complex and transformative infrastructure projects in the UK-and right now, we're looking for a Senior Design Manager to join our team on a flagship Nuclear project.
This is a chance to lead from the front-guiding pre-construction design, shaping project outcomes, and managing key relationships with clients, consultants, and internal delivery teams. Whether you're based in Dartford, Manchester or Derby, you'll play a central role in ensuring we deliver technical excellence, innovation, and certainty.
What You'll Be Doing
* Lead the design journey: Manage the full design lifecycle from concept through to construction handover.
* Bridge the gap: Connect design thinking with commercial and construction teams, ensuring solutions are buildable, safe, and smart.
* Challenge the norm: Interrogate and improve designs through collaborative processes that reduce risk and maximise value.
* Keep things moving: Oversee design progress, ensuring information is delivered on time, fit for purpose, and technically robust.
* Innovate and inspire: Promote continuous improvement in design methodology, championing new ideas and approaches.
What You'll Bring
* A strong background in electrical engineering, ideally with a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary design teams across the full project lifecycle.
* Expertise in power systems, integration, and the design of complex infrastructure or building services.
* A collaborative mindset, and a passion for raising the bar in technical delivery.
