We design, develop, and deliver a wide range of offsite-prefabricated, innovative and sustainable building service solutions throughout the UK & Ireland. Alternative Heat specialises in the design, supply and installation of a wide range of Prefabricated energy solutions, typically built in NI and shipped throughout the UK & Ireland and into the EU. We also offer turnkey design, build & operate solutions for commercial energy centers and large-scale district heating solutions and have experience with successfully procuring and delivering many similar packages to a wide range of public bodies throughout the UK, Ireland & EU. We are currently looking to fill the role of Contracts Manager to support our growing Contracts Team, the successful candidate would be based out of our Belfast office and would be responsible for overseeing projects and project teams throughout Northern Ireland. This post is a permanent contract and offers an amazing opportunity for a candidate who wants to gain experience with a progressive and dynamic company. The role is to manage the delivery of projects and project teams from early design phase to handover / PC. Your project delivery teams will generally consist of project managers, site managers and/or Site Supervisors, and a series of selected supply chain partners, in your role as Contracts Manager you will be supported by representatives from various internal Alternative Heat departments such as commercial, design, procurement, etc...

Job Summary
We are currently seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual who can manage, develop, and delegate work accordingly whilst supporting project teams on progress and advancements. The successful candidate would be working in conjunction with an established commercial project management team and alongside our in-house M&E design team, who operate with the latest Revit, AutoCAD & MEP 3D design packages.
The majority of our projects are currently based throughout NI & ROI and are predominantly within the commercial sector; these projects include general mechanical and electrical installation works and various construction activities. With this being the case, relevant experience within the MEP sector would be beneficial but not essential.
Key Responsibilities
1. To manage and develop your project delivery teams to ensure the successful delivery of the projects in a timely manner.
2. Liaise regularly with the client via online or face-to-face meetings and regular on-site discussions to ensure they are satisfied with current progress and the forecast of upcoming works.
3. Ensure your managers & site teams are working as efficiently as possible and all high-level objectives have been set out for your management team to accomplish in target dates.
4. Ensure project value, drawings, specification, and order are agreed and in place before works commence.
5. Liaise with the project delivery teams to ensure all high-level templates are populated and set out for the Construction team to follow.
6. Ensure all plant and equipment are procured correctly, in line with the specification and client requirements.
7. Forecast project spend at the outset of the projects and communicate projections to the Operations Managers and Commercial team.
8. Throughout the project, in tandem with the commercial team, track costs to ensure the project will be delivered as per original target spends.
9. Assess the requirement for labour and sub-contractors to undertake various elements of installation work and the development/expansion of your team.
10. Vet all sub-contractors to ensure they fulfil company requirements and are engaged appropriately via fixed price purchase order or JCT contract.
11. Review & assist the Commercial team in the preparation and evaluation of monthly applications.
12. Prepare a weekly project meeting with the wider internal Alt Heat team to ensure critical path elements are being actioned and addressed by the relevant departments.
13. Provide accurate information on contract variation and monthly claims back through to the commercial team for their monthly valuations.
14. Attend monthly meetings with the Operations Manager to discuss team performance and areas to develop the team.
15. Attend monthly meetings with the wider Project Management team to review company performance and any changes to company procedures.
16. Ensure and assist with the preparation of O&M manuals upon completion of the project.
17. Ensure the team has marked up all As-built drawings and compiled all associated certs.
18. Ability to work in conjunction with the client to ensure Alt Heat and their site teams work is carried out safely and to a high standard.
19. Ensure & assist the tracking of project performance is tracked on a weekly basis via progress reporting back to the Client.
20. Work alongside the Operations Manager to forecast additional resource requirements in-line with company projections.
Travel Requirements
This role is aimed to be predominantly office-based, with a requirement to attend frequent site meetings, carry out site surveys, assess site progress, meet sub-contractors, assist with coordination plant operational checks & final commissioning. It would be reasonable to assume you would need to be out onsite one or two days per week, but this would be dependent on specific project requirements.
