About the role
Imaging is a cornerstone technology underpinning science at the Crick and the BioImage Analysis Trainer will be an integral member of the Image Analysis Group, reporting directly to the Image Analysis Lead (Deputy Head of CALM). In addition to delivering foundational training and support, the role will offer personalised, one-on-one coaching for selected research projects, working closely with Crick Research Groups (CRGs) to ensure effective collaboration and successful project outcomes.
What you will be doing
* Equip Crick Research Groups (CRGs) with the necessary expertise to rigorously and efficiently extract quantitative data from images.
* Provide training on both the image analysis software and the computational environments (such as HPC) required for CRGs operation.
* Instruct microscopy users on theoretical concepts of image analysis and guide them through practical image analysis tasks.
* Offer support and training to help users write and modify basic scripts (e.g., in FIJI or Python) for automating and ensuring the reproducibility of image analysis tasks.
About you
* A PhD in a physical or life science.
* Proficiency in programming with a mainstream language, such as Java, C, or Python.
* Extensive experience in training and/or teaching, particularly in technical, hands-on/live coding workshops.
* Demonstrated experience in developing automated image analysis workflows using tools like FIJI, CellProfiler, Ilastik, or similar.
* Strong adherence to good software engineering practices (e.g., version control, documentation).
