Sustainable Talent have engaged exclusively with an Industry leader who design, install and commission large scale solar PV farms and battery energy storage systems (BESS) for their clients. Supplying renewable energy from solar power plants enables local communities to reduce costs and reduce their carbon footprint. It also means they can provide off-grid power in remote areas that can be sold back to the grid or used locally at a cheaper price than grid-supplied energy.
They are seeking an experienced Operations Manager – ICP to oversee the operational aspects of our Independent Connection Provider (ICP) projects. As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations, ensuring the successful delivery of projects from design through installation to connection. This role requires exceptional leadership, strategic oversight, and a focus on efficiency, quality, and client satisfaction within the utilities and infrastructure sectors.
What will you be doing?
* Project Oversight: Oversee and manage the end-to-end execution of ICP projects, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
* Team Leadership: Lead, inspire, and develop a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, project managers, and field technicians.
* Operational Efficiency: Continuously improve operational processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve productivity across all phases of the ICP lifecycle, from design to connection.
* Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all projects meet or exceed safety and environmental regulations, maintaining a culture of safety across the team and with subcontractors.
* Client Liaison: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders, ensuring their requirements are met and expectations exceeded.
* Resource Management: Oversee the allocation and management of resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, ensuring projects are adequately staffed and well-supported.
* Financial Management: Manage project budgets, ensuring the effective use of resources and controlling costs. Monitor financial performance and report on project status to senior leadership.
* Quality Control: Ensure that all work meets the highest quality standards, industry regulations, and client specifications.
* Risk Management: Proactively identify potential risks to project schedules or budgets and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
* Reporting & Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely reporting of project performance, milestones, and financial updates to senior management.
* Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence, identifying opportunities to innovate and improve performance across the board.
What are we looking for?
* Extensive experience in ICP project management, ideally within the utilities, energy, or construction sectors.
* Proven experience managing complex projects, from design through installation to connection.
* Strong leadership abilities with experience managing and mentoring cross-functional teams.
* Deep understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards in the utilities and construction sectors.
* Exceptional project management skills, including managing budgets, schedules, and resources.
* Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on overcoming challenges and delivering results.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders effectively.
* Knowledge of connection processes and best practices in the energy or infrastructure industries.
* Relevant degree or professional qualification in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
* Experience working on ICP or utility connection projects is a plus.
