The Role
The community Perinatal Mental Health Team are a specialist multi-disciplinary team who work in partnership with other agencies to provide assessment, care and treatment for pregnant and postnatal women (up to 12 months), with moderate to severe perinatal mental ill health who require secondary care mental health services across NHS Lanarkshire.
The Community Perinatal Mental Health Occupational Therapist will work within a specialist multi-disciplinary team and in partnership with other agencies to provide assessment, care and treatment for pregnant and postnatal women (up to 12 months), with moderate to severe perinatal mental ill health who require secondary care mental health services across NHS Lanarkshire.
The post holder will have a role assessing, collaborating and working with women who experience perinatal mental ill health in their emotional adjustment to pregnancy and infant care, promoting and enhancing the developing parent-infant relationship and optimising infant development.
The Occupational therapist within the CPMHT will assess, advise and communicate effectively with women with, or at risk of perinatal mental illness, and their families, to support occupational participation, to help them recognise signs of ill health and to make informed decisions about their care. They will Advocate for, and work in partnership with, women, their infants and families, who experience mental health difficulties in pregnancy or the postnatal period to ensure they receive the care they need at the right time and in the right.
This is a unique opportunity to use core and specialist occupational therapy skills to plan, deliver and evaluate care which responds to the individual needs of women with perinatal mental ill health.

What we'll need you to bring
* Registered Occupational Therapist with valid HCPC Registration
* Educated to or working towards or operating at Degree Level
* Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently
* Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice
* Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice
* Leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery
* Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
* The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
* Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills
* Effective time management skills
* Working knowledge of basic information technology
* Be flexible to meet the working patterns/requirements of the post
* Please note the service covers both North and South Lanarkshire therefore a current valid driving license is essential
Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
It would be great if you also have
* Practice education training and experience within the specific care group/speciality
* Evidence of audit, critical appraisal, reflective practice and/or research skills
* Sound knowledge of multi disciplinary and inter agency team working practices

Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in Community Perinatal Mental Health Team within the Buchanan Centre.
The working pattern for this role is: Monday - Friday 0900 -1700 hours (hours/days to be discussed at Interview)
