About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dispenser, either trained or a trainee to join our Dispensing Unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for dispensing medication in accordance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) and General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) regulations. This role is ideal for someone meticulous, numerate, and literate, with sufficient physical strength for moving cages and lifting boxes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Dispense Medication:
1. Accurately dispense low-tech therapies for patients, following good dispensing practices and relevant guidelines.
2. Ensure medications are correctly assigned to patients as per packing slips and prescriptions.
3. Conduct comprehensive checks for medication details, expiration dates, and prescriber information.
4. Report any near misses to the Administrator.
2. Adherence to Regulations:
1. Maintain a working knowledge of GPhC regulations and dispensing practices.
2. Ensure strict adherence to storage and handling protocols, especially for temperature-sensitive medications.
3. Documentation and Efficiency:
1. Complete all necessary documentation accurately and efficiently.
2. Prepare medications for cross-checking by an Accredited Checking Technician.
3. Ensure accurate and complete delivery information for patient packages.
4. Training and Development:
1. Undertake NVQ level 2 – Pharmacist Support Assistant qualification.
2. Participate in all mandatory and supplementary training sessions.
3. Develop and apply knowledge of Good Distribution Practice (GDP).
