We are looking for an experienced leader to deliver mission to the local community across Torbay, from our 2 corps (Church) settings in Torquay and Paignton. You will work with the Torbay Corps Officer (minister of religion) to ensure that mission flourishes across ‘The Bay’. As the Community Mission Manager, you will: Contribute significantly to the development and delivery of the overall mission objectives Facilitate people’s Christian discipleship, worship & social action, both on an individual & group basis Lead on establishing & maintaining links within the corps (Church), the community & other relevant charities, religious groups & agencies Be responsible for the building, finances, fundraising & administration at the setting Be accountable for all people related activities of direct reports (volunteers & 1 employee). To be successful in the role you will be able to demonstrate: A vibrant Christian faith, with the ability to show compassion & understanding to all participants; understand spiritual needs, lead prayers, & be confident in discussing spiritual matters Strong experience in successfully managing complex settings which serve the community Proven experience of successfully delivering multiple programmes to meet objectives Excellent interpersonal & communication skills – verbal, written, presentational Experience in managing & developing volunteers & employees Strong ‘back office skills’ – financial management, health & safety, administration This role has an occupational requirement that the successful candidate must be a committed and practising Christian and will be in sympathy with the doctrines of, and supportive of, the purposes and the aims and objectives of The Salvation Army.
