This exciting opportunity will give you full autonomy to run the pipeline of deals in the way you want to. You are the decision maker for all the loans that you process. The role will focus on assessing and managing the credit risk associated with bridging loans, including retrofit loans and Buy-to-Let loans, all secured against residential property. As part of this role, you will collaborate with third-party stakeholders, including brokers, surveyors, and solicitors, to evaluate the financial viability of loan applications and ensure the effective management of credit risk across the portfolio.
The team
You will be part of a team of 5 credit managers in the Residential Lending team.
Responsibilities include:
1. Credit Risk Assessment
o Conduct thorough credit risk assessments for bridging loans, retrofit loans, and BTL loans, ensuring all risks are identified and mitigated.
o Analyse financial data, including property valuations, borrower creditworthiness, and loan exit viability, to assess the potential risk of loan applications.
o Assess loan documentation, ensuring that all terms and conditions align with the company’s credit policies and risk appetite.
o Review and approve or decline loan applications based on detailed risk analysis, aligning with business goals and market conditions.
2. Liaison with 3rd Parties
o Collaborate with brokers, surveyors, and solicitors to obtain required information, including property valuations, legal documentation, and borrower financials.
o Communicate effectively with third parties via phone and email to resolve queries, obtain
additional information
, and ensure smooth loan processing.
o Maintain professional relationships with external parties to facilitate ongoing business transactions and partnerships.
3. Portfolio Management
o Support the Portfolio team with credit-related queries and issues as they arise during the loan lifecycle.
o Provide recommendations for adjustments or corrective actions to mitigate risks in the portfolio.
o Regularly monitor the performance of loans in the portfolio, identifying potential issues or early warning signs of financial distress.
4. Compliance and Regulatory Adherence
o Ensure compliance with relevant lending regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
o Assist in the preparation and submission of reports for regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders.
5. Reporting and Documentation
o Prepare credit papers for senior management, detailing loan performance, risk analysis, and recommendations.
o Maintain accurate records of loan applications, credit assessments, and communications with third parties.
o Document and update loan risk profiles in the company’s loan management systems.
Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in credit risk management or lending, preferably in real estate or property finance.
* Experience with bridging loans, retrofit loans, or Buy-to-Let loans.
* Knowledge of the residential property market and the key risks associated with property-backed lending.
* Experience working with third-party brokers, surveyors, solicitors, and other stakeholders in a lending environment.
* Understanding of relevant regulations and compliance requirements for property lending
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
