Public Health Principal - Intelligence Specialist

The postholder will manage the public health analyst team for the Isle of Wight Council and work closely with the Director of Public Health, the Consultant in Public Health, and the Public Health Team, providing focused public health intelligence leadership.
This role offers an exciting career opportunity in the Isle of Wight council, located in the Southeast of England, serving a resident population of approximately 143,000. Working for an Island council offers a unique analytical opportunity for an intelligence lead to understand not only the wider determinants of health but also the unique geographical influencers on people and place and their health and care.
The postholder will work collaboratively with partner agencies, managing and leading the intelligence team to support health and wellbeing outcomes and reducing health inequalities. The postholder will develop the public health data function to ensure that the team provides robust, accessible public health information using a wide range of data sources relating to population health and wellbeing. This involves working closely with colleagues in other Council Directorates, NHS ICB and partners to ensure that robust systems are in place for timely and rigorous reporting of population health and wellbeing indicators.
There will also be an opportunity to link with the wider analytical functions of the council to ensure data across the organisation is used to inform and support decision making.
Key responsibilities for this role:
* To lead, develop and manage the Joint Strategic Needs Assessments for the multi-agency Health and Wellbeing Board and associated partnership boards.
* Drive innovation, creative thinking, and alternative ways of analysing and presenting data to support population health outcomes in line with Council and partnership objectives.
* Provide senior leadership in the communication and interpretation of a wide range of health and social determinant data to enable informed decision making.
