Senior Engineer - Heat Pumps – Overview
We are working with a successful and established Renewable Energy company who are looking for a Lead Engineer/Supervisor with experience on Heat Pumps to join their Operations & Maintenance team. They have recently won a new contract covering PPM, Reactive Maintenance and Repairs to Heat Pumps and associated systems within predominantly light commercial properties.
The company specializes in installing Heat Pump Networks as well as individual GSHP & ASHP to commercial and large domestic properties such as Manor Houses, Retirement Homes, and Care Homes. You will be part of the O&M side which looks after sites that have a central plant room with a Commercial Scale Heat Pump (<200KW) providing heating to a number of different smaller properties such as flats and rooms on site. Your role will involve servicing, maintaining, fault finding, and repairing the Heat Pump and Plant Room Systems (they can train you up on the bigger units) as well as supervising a team of Junior Engineers/Plumbers. If you haven’t worked on Commercial Heat Pumps yet, they can provide full training; all they are looking for is an Engineer with good domestic heat pump knowledge who is keen to learn. They will also get you additional qualifications such as F-Gas if you don’t have it already!
You will also work on the associated systems in the plant room such as pumps, strainers, electrical controls, and more. On the new contract, they have roughly 30 sites in your area as well as many other existing large domestic/commercial properties they look after.
The company operates an out of hours call-out rota; however, due to their work mostly with Daikin & NIBE heat pumps, they have full remote monitoring of the systems as well. Usually, they can log in remotely, identify the fault, and book in the repair for the following day, so there shouldn’t be too much need to be called out unless it is an absolute emergency. They pay £150 retainer for the call-out rota as well as overtime rates if called out.
