Job Advert: SEN Teaching Assistant – 2:1 Support Location: Worthing Position: SEN Teaching Assistant Contract: Full-Time, 5 Days a Week Until the end of the Academic Year! Are you a dedicated, committed, and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role in a supportive school environment? We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant to provide 2:1 support for a wonderful KS2 pupil with Autism. This position will involve working closely with the class teacher as a SEN TA to ensure the pupil is fully supported in his learning and development. The pupil is verbal and has a high degree of charm, but may display challenging behaviours when dysregulated. Your role will be key in helping him manage these situations, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide 2:1 support to a KS2 pupil with Autism, ensuring his engagement in the curriculum and promoting his development across all areas. Work alongside the class teacher to tailor support to the individual needs of the pupil. Assist with managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours when they occur, using strategies to support the pupil in remaining regulated. Support the pupil in social interaction, communication, and emotional regulation, helping him to thrive in the classroom. Assist with the delivery of differentiated activities to support his learning at his level. Key Requirements: Strong experience working with children with Autism, particularly those with verbal communication. Must be highly committed to the role and available to work 5 days a week, 8:30 – 3:30pm Calm, patient, and understanding with a proactive approach to supporting children with complex needs. A positive, flexible attitude with a strong focus on inclusion and making a difference. DBS on the update service is essential for this role. Desirable: Experience in managing challenging behaviours and working with children with Autism in a 1:1 or small group setting. Knowledge of specific strategies and interventions to support pupils with Autism.
