Our client is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Design Manager or Design Manager to join our team on a range of exciting projects with one of their major clients. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading design teams, liaising with client teams, and overseeing the successful delivery of new build and refurbishment projects from RIBA stages 3-5.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership: Lead design teams through all stages of the design process, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Client Liaison: Engage with clients to understand project requirements and expectations, providing regular updates and managing client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
Design Management: Oversee the production of design documentation, ensuring all aspects of the design meet the necessary regulatory, safety, and functional standards.
Team Coordination: Work closely with architects, engineers, and other specialists to ensure cohesive design solutions. Ensure that all team members are aligned with project goals and timelines.
Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the main point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, and airport authorities.
RIBA Stages: Manage projects through RIBA stages 3 to 5 (Technical Design and Construction), ensuring smooth transitions between each phase.
Quality Control: Ensure that design quality is maintained and that all necessary approvals and regulatory requirements are met.
Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve design-related issues, adapting solutions to meet project constraints and requirements.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Previous Experience: Significant experience leading design teams on large-scale projects, ideally in the aviation or transport sector, with a focus on both airside and landside developments.
Project Delivery: Proven track record in delivering new build projects through RIBA stages 3-5, including managing design development, technical design, and coordination with construction teams.
Leadership and Collaboration: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage teams while fostering collaborative relationships with clients, contractors, and consultants.
Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of relevant design standards, building regulations, and aviation-specific requirements.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex design solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Problem-Solving: Ability to address and resolve design issues and challenges in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Desirable Skills:
Sector-Specific Experience: Experience in delivering projects within the aviation, transport, or infrastructure sectors.
Software Proficiency: Familiarity with design management software, BIM (Building Information Modelling), and other relevant tools.
